Complete Co-packing Services achieve BRCGS Version 9!

We are delighted to announce that we have retained our AA Grade following our BRCGS Version 9 audit last month.

BRCGS Version 9 places increased emphasis on developing and maintaining a strong food safety culture within organisations and encourages a culture of continuous improvement. The new version addresses emerging issues in the food industry, such as product security and authenticity. V9 introduces enhanced requirements for allergen management, including clear identification and communication of allergens, effective controls to prevent cross-contamination, and allergen validation and verification procedures.

Clare Crane, Quality, Technical and Environmental Manager, said: “Attaining the AA grade in the new Version 9 standard is a remarkable accomplishment for our company. BRCGS V9 offers a robust framework for ensuring food safety, facilitating global market access, and driving continual improvement in the food industry. It reflects the unwavering dedication of our team members to upholding food safety standards and I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every individual for their tireless work and commitment. It is through their hard work and effort that we have achieved this significant milestone.”

Managing Director, Stephen Nicholls, said: “Maintaining the BRC AA standard in our audit was a fantastic achievement especially as it was against Version 9, the latest upgrade of the standard. Also to have the feedback from the Auditor that it was the best Version 9 audit he has completed only reinforces the management and commitment made by the team to ensure we can achieve a service that is consistent against any standard.”

We are thrilled to announce that we will be opening an additional facility specifically for storage, fulfilment and distribution.

This strategic decision has been made to expand the companies storage capacity as we have seen huge growth and potential in the B2C market – especially in the past year. Our aim is to provide our clients with a ‘one-stop shop’ from filling in our cleanroom facilities through to afterpacking, warehousing and fulfilment at our new site.

The site comprises of 45,000 sq ft of office and warehouse space and has in excess of 3,000 pallet spaces. Here is a sneak peak of the premises!

Chilled and Frozen Storage

We are also expanding our on-site chilled storage as well as introducing frozen storage for the first time. This means our customers will be able to store chilled and frozen ingredients and finished goods with us. This decision was made to meet our customers ‘chill-chain’ requirements as our liquid filling production continues to grow.

At present we have a on-site chilled storage unit which holds 16 pallets, with this new expansion we will be able to hold an additional 78 pallets. The frozen storage facility will be able to hold 52 pallets (size dependant).

The facility is currently in the process of being built at our Abercynon site. Keep an eye on our social media for more updates and photos coming soon.

We are delighted to share with you that we now have a tablet counting and filling line on site which allows us to fill tablets, capsules and soft gels into a variety of pack formats.

The machine has a flexible dispenser meaning we can fill into glass or PET bottles as well as premade pouches and sachets. To complete the line we have also brought in a brand new Enercon induction sealer which provides tamper evidence for bottles to maintain product freshness and safety.

What does the future look like for the health and wellness industry?

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted every single industry and has changed the way that we behave as consumers. With more people conscious of their health and wellbeing, vitamin and mineral supplement use has grown dramatically, with an increase of 12.1% in 2020 (the highest growth in over two decades). According to research by ADM, a global leader in nutrition, over 30% of consumers are purchasing items that are tailored to their health and in particular products that support healthy immune systems, enhancing moods and sustaining energy. This is expected to continue into 2021 with immune health being a top focus of the health and wellness industry.

Over recent years we have received a number of enquiries regarding capsule filling, this has accelerated significantly during 2020 and into 2021 which is why we felt it was time to purchase new equipment and enter into this growing market.
